In 1970, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dieter Seitzer, the “motor of microelectronics development in Franconia”, was appointed to the Chair of Technical Electronics in the course of the expansion of the then newly established Technical Faculty. Until his retirement on October 1, 1998, he headed both the Chair of Technical Electronics and the Fraunhofer Institute. Many successes could be mentioned from this time, but to limit to just one: the chair celebrated its greatest success with fundamental and groundbreaking work in the field of audio signal coding, which was subsequently continued by the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits on specific applications (mp3, digital broadcasting).

On April 21, a small celebration was held in honor of his 90th birthday. We congratulate him very warmly and wish him all the best for the years to come!
